Perform a Wildcard Search

Some search fields allow you to perform a wild card search using a percent sign (%). Wild card searches are a way to search fields when you do not know the entire value. For example, you might know that the address included Main Street, but you are unsure of the rest. There are three ways to perform a wildcard search.

NOTE: You can only perform wildcard searches on fields that allow you to manually enter information. Wildcard searches are not supported for defined UID fields in a GIS search.

  • Place a percent sign before and after the text if you want to search anywhere in the field. For example, if you enter %1%, it will search for 1 anywhere in the field.
  • Place a percent sign after the text if you want to search for text at the beginning of the field. For example, if you enter 1%, it will search for values that begin with 1.
  • Place a percent sign before the text if you want to search for text at the end of the field. For example, if you enter %1, it will search for values that end with 1.
