Manhole Inspection Fields

The General tab includes information about the location of the manhole(s).

  • Facility Id: This field automatically populates with the facility ID.
  • Inspected By: Select the employee who performed the inspection.
  • Date: Enter the date of the inspection or select it using the calendar.
  • Location: Enter the location of the asset.
  • Map Number: Enter the variable character identifier from a map book, if applicable.
  • Tributary Area: Enter the areas which contribute flow by gravity and/or force main discharges.
  • Surface: Select the type of surface above the mainline feature. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSSURFC.
  • Hydrant Dist.: Enter the distance to the nearest hydrant in feet.
  • X/Y Location: Enter the X and Y coordinates. These fields may be automatically populated if the address has been geocoded.
  • Update Map: This field can be used as a flag for whatever purpose your organization wishes. For example, it could be used for instances when the map or GIS need to be updated. The administrator can search for inspections that have this field selected. The name of the field can be changed by editing the corresponding XML file.

The Ratings section contains ratings or scores for the manhole.

  • Structural: Enter the rating for the structural integrity of the system.
  • Hydraulic: Enter the rating to indicate the amount of inflow and infiltration (I/I) or unwanted flow into the system.
  • Overall: Enter the combined rating of the system.
  • Spot and score: Select the spot. A score is assigned when the spot is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSSPOT.
  • Ground Cond. and score: Select the ground condition. A score is assigned when the ground condition is selected. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under Preferences > Description ScoresSGRNDCND.
  • Precipitation and score: Select the precipitation type. A score is assigned when the precipitation type is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSPRECIP.
  • Flow Type and score: Select the flow type. A score is assigned when the flow type is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSFLOW.
  • Ponding and score: Select the ponding value. A score is assigned when the ponding value is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSPONDCND.

The Manhole tab displays information from the manhole table and condition observations. If the manhole attributes are updated on this form, the attributes in the geodatabase can be updated with these new values as long as the user has been given the correct rights.

  • Length: Enter the length.
  • Width: Enter the width.
  • Access: Select the access location. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSACCESS.
  • Lid Diameter: Enter the diameter of the lid.
  • Barrel Diameter: Enter the diameter of the barrel.
  • Sub Type: Select the category of the manhole. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSMHTYPE.

The Material section contains information about the material of the manhole.

  • Lid: Select the lid or ring cover material. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSLIDMT.
  • Steps: Select the type of steps. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSSTEPMT.
  • Bench: Select the bench material. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSBNCHMT.
  • Ring: Select the ring type. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSRING.
  • Cone: Select the cone material. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSCONEMT.
  • Channel: Select the channel material. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSCHANLMT.
  • Frame: Select the frame type. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSFRAMEMT.
  • Barrel: Select the barrel material. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSBRLMT.

The Depth section contains information about the depth of the manhole.

  • Manhole: Enter the depth of the manhole.
  • Surcharge: Enter the surcharge in feet.
  • Flow: Enter the flow of water in inches.
  • Debris: Enter the debris in feet.

The Observation section allows users to add a new observation to the inspection.

  • Structural Parts: Select the part that needs to be repaired or replaced. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSMHPART.
  • Dist. from Rim: Enter the distance from the defect to the rim.
  • Position: Select the clock or quadrant position. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSTVOBPOS.
  • Test Method: Select the method used to determine the defect. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSTSTMTHD.
  • Estimated I/I: Enter the number of estimated gallons per minute for inflow and infiltration (I/I).
  • Condition and score: Select the condition. A score is assigned when the condition is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSMHCOND.
  • Leak Type and score: Select the leak type. A score is assigned when the leak type is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSMHLKCAT.
  • Leak Category and score: Select the leak category. A score is assigned when the leak category is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSMHLKCAT.
  • Add: Click to add the current observation to the Existing Observations.

The Pipes tab is for recording information about the incoming and outgoing mainlines and connections. The pipe identifiers and attributes are automatically populated if a geometric network exists in the geodatabase.

The Incoming/Outgoing Pipes section displays any pipes already associated with the manhole.

The Pipe section allows user to add pipes.

  • Remove: Click to remove the selected pipe.
  • Edit: Click to edit the selected pipe.
  • Id: Select the ID.
  • Type: This field automatically populates with the feature class for the pipe ID.
  • Incoming/Outgoing: Select the direction of the pipe.
  • Material: Select the material that the pipe is made of. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSPIPEMT.
  • Diameter: Select the diameter of the pipe. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSDIAM.
  • Direction: Select the direction of the pipe orientation. The contents of this list are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesCustom CodesSPIPEDIR.
  • Elevation: Enter the elevation.
  • Depth: Enter the depth.
  • Depth of Flow: Enter the depth of flow in inches.
  • Drop Connect: Select if this is a drop connection.
  • Bypass Pipe: Select if this is a bypass pipe.
  • Condition and score: Select the condition. A score is assigned when the condition is selected. The contents of this list and scores are populated by the administrator in Designer under PreferencesDescription ScoresSPIPECND.
  • Estimated I/I: Enter the number of estimated gallons per minute for inflow and infiltration (I/I).
  • Update GIS: Select if an update to the GIS is needed as a result of this pipe data.
  • Add: Click to add the current observation to the Existing Observations.

The following fields are found on the Comments tab.

  • Inspection Comments: Enter information about the inspection.
  • Repairs Made: Enter information about the repairs made.
  • Recommendations: Enter any recommendations.
  • Supervisor Approval/Comments: Enter any supervisor comments.
